Wow! This has to be the most fun Nation Building School event has ever organised!
The idea behind the #YoungChangemakers was simple. We noticed there are little opportunities for engagements between young changemakers (NGOs, entrepreneurs, activists). What I say engagement, I mean talking and chilling. We found while we tend to meet each other at events like forums and volunteering, the environment wasn't always conducive to have a chat. This makes the avenue for collaboration limited as well. With so much happening in the youth ecosystem, Imagine all the wasted opportunities! Hence, the Young Changemakers Gathering (YC) was born! Casual monthly gatherings to meet, mingle and share thoughts & ideas. Nothing serious, nothing formal. We only had one agenda: to allow 3 organisations to showcase their initiatives. So, we had our first YC yesterday night! We brought in 3 amazing organisations: Sedunia, The Picha Project & Me.reka Makerspace. We made all 3 presenters - Faris, Suzanne, Rashvin to present in #PechaKucha. They made us laugh, they made us cry but most importantly, they made us inspired. Many who came told me they went back with new friends and fire in the belly for social impact. Oh and sorry for the packed room. Liberal Latte Coffee Trade could only fit 50 pax comfortably but we had 80 people! Ooppss! Excited for the next one!! It doesn't need to do anything more than that, because as mentioned, Amazon and third parties have already covered testing the rest of the flow. This is the final missing cog, and once we plug it in, the gears of quality can start cranking.
